RWMT use a wide range of tools and equipment in our survey operations

Robert Wilson Marine Technologies (RWMT) has developed a system for mapping the bottom sediment layer, capable of locating hidden objects and structures that otherwise would be difficult or impossible to detect.

Technical Diving

Technical diving is the term used to describe all diving methods that exceed the limits imposed on depth and immersion time for recreational scuba diving.

Multibeam sonar

Multibeam sonar is an active sonar system used to map the seafloor and detect objects along the seafloor.

Sub-bottom profiler

Sub-bottom profilers work by transmitting sound energy in the form of short pulses towards the seabed. This sound energy is reflected from the seabed to determine the physical properties of the seafloor.

Magnetometer

The magnetometer measures magnetic induction (magnetic field intensity), during an ocean exploration. It is used to survey the seafloor’s geological features but also to detect the presence of ferro magnetic material due to shipwrecks and disposed contaminants.

Submersible

Submersibles are manned underwater vehicles deployed from a ship to the sea, where they record and collect information from the ocean and seafloor.

ROV

ROVs are unmanned, remotely operated underwater vehicles used to safely explore ocean depths controlled by an operator on a ship or on land.

Side-Scan Sonar

Side-scan sonar is one of the most effective underwater exploration tools because it can search a large area quickly and produce a detailed picture of objects on the seafloor.

About the images
RWMT work with nation states, government agencies and institutions on sensitive and often classified operations. Also, the tools we use are constantly being evaluated and changes depending on the nature of the operation. Because of this, we have sometimes chosen to show example images of the tools we use, rather than images from actual projects.
